ARTIST BIO
MANN HOWELL, (Pima/Hopi) is member of the Gila River Indian Reservation of Arizona. The artist has managed to create a collector clientele world-wide. The artists’ original artwork has placed internationally from Dubai to Australia and in multiple states in the U.S. and now Canada. Presently, commissioned work for private collections is 75% of the artwork placed this year.
The artist is the first generation to live off of the reservation. The artist mother wanted no part in raising her children the traditional way on the reservation like the rest of her family. Born in Tucson, Arizona on the way to visit relatives. Mann Howell was raised a majority of the minor years in the city of Phoenix.
Influences show through the work of the artist drawing on memories and ideas from the inspiration of all the time spent with the relatives that taught “The Old Ways” of life on the reservations. Grandpa in Tuba (Tuba City in Northern AZ) was a Kachina Carver & Rattle Maker who taught of the craft and provided the storytelling of “The Old Ways“. Though, it would take years later into life before the artist started pursuing a lifestyle professionally as an “Artist”.
At the age of 20, before earning a BBA in Sales and Marketing, Mann Howell was contracted by various companies in the U.S. for Business and Marketing Analysis. From Recruiting and Training to Improving Company Image and Increasing Revenues. Word of Mouth referrals from satisfied clients kept Mann busy and traveling the country for many years.
It was only after traveling the artist came to the realization, that not everyone had relatives that lived on the reservation. And not until years later Mann Howell then realized what happens on the reservation is unlike anywhere else in the U.S. by comparison.
Currently, in the process Mann Howell is working on an Associates of Fine Arts degree and opening a New Office/Studio
